Dr. Girish N. Vaishnav was one of the leading flag bearer of the medical practice, stretching from from 1960s to up to 2020s . He gained the iconic status in medical fraternity for his versatile talents .
He pioneered many new practices and approach. Generations of physicians and medical practitioners followed him .
He was equally comfortable both in ' gown' and in' town'. By gown it means that he was academically as active as a professor .He kept abreast with the current knowledge by regular readings journals, attending conferences across all medical specialities and clinical meets like Saturday club, Thursday club with productive discussions.
He was the first one to introduce new terminology or techniques or drugs or discovery to the practitioners of Baroda because of his advance scouting of knowledge in the pre - internet era.
He was the person who introduced us to terms like CAD, LAD, LCA , chickengunya etc.
From Allergy to Zika virus, nothing he missed .
He was Doctors' doctor as most of the doctors sought his opinion or assistance for themselves. Apart from medicine ,reading classical literature books blossomed him to be the well rounded personality ,being reinforced the favorable genetic contribution of being born in Nagar community.
He was like a" Gandhi "of the medical field, believed and practiced simple living and high thinking. During many interactions with the legend ,I always learned many new things, either it is clinical, technical information or subtle therapeutic manipulation . He fully utilised the imaging , endoscopy, histopathology or clinical chemistry for the accurate diagnosis , differential diagnosis and prognosis.
His simple and economical approach appealed to the common people and his learned interaction gained him confidence from the intelligentsia and deep pocketed.
He had the art of being critical without being disagreeable .
I am sure the health of God , Goddesses will be in good hands as He begins his extraterrestrial inning in heaven.
May we bow to offer our last respect to you,SIR.
