So after reaching the first night holt at Lidderwatt , we looked for the restful night sleep ,once we had satisfying dessert topped hot dinner. .
Now, our routine life is going to take a big change and it is our adaptability to this new routine,new surrounding will be our second test on this trekking. May all our " dry run" work for us.
The Lidderwatt is a big open ground , surrounded by hills / mountains of varying sizes and heights. Also there are multiple streams of running water making it ideal camp site . Also, there are surrounding forest areas covered with Deodar and pine trees and other varieties and green lush meadows inter spacing to complete the landscape. The mules that travel with us are let loose to roam , to self feed and rest. Even, lots of local people come here for picnics and cricket.
No photo or image can impress our senses the serenity and tranquility that onev imbibes when one actually feel here at the site. And such feelings are the rewards for all the travel and logistics hardships . The traveller is a creature , should be ready to forgo all creature comforts , to build the mammory bank with lifetime deposit.
The tent where we stayed was of the size, 8x8 feet with the vertical height of five feet four inches, just one inch more than my height. For the first time in my life , I was not complaining for the few inches the Genes did not gave. In the the camp, one needs to sit or lie on the floor , it being cushioned by one inch of waterproof mattress and about 1.5 inch of sleeping beg. The fatigued calf and back muscles and full stomach were catalyst enough to go in the sleeping mode. The source of light in the tent was from the pre charged electric lantern , hung on one side of the tent ,to be used sparingly. The head light was kept handy to attend the the call of the nature in the night , to be relieved 50 meters away in washroom tent, traversing the water stream, assorted sized boulders and rain soaked ground.
Luckily , my partner in this crime is non snorer and does not suffer from restless leg syndrome . A little mutual pre sleep massaging pre was a message to body for relaxation. Thank god for little mercies.
