This is a must see movie,of course for movie lovers, on Netflix ,directed by Imtiaz Ali and there are many for many reasons during this mango season . 😉
The art of story telling through cinematography is at its best,like a reading cruising on river with slow pace,so no space or spectacle misses by.
The story of musician Amarjit along with his second wife is narrated , partly in sequence and partly as flashback . The innovatie use of tech ,using actual photographs juxtaposed with reel life make visual narrative a real and surreal feel.
The on-screen lyrics of punjabi songs along with English dubbing make evey song comprehensive, otherwise one enjoys only tunes in punjabi song and not the lyrics.
The background of khalistani terrorism is portrayed as the Chamkila becomes victim as so many others during that period ( Famous opthalmologist Dr. Daljitsingh was one of them )
The song and music by A.R. Rehman are catchy .The beautiful pair of Daljit and Parineeti ' s acting caliber helps to elevate the movie from' maybe ' to ' must watch'.
For discerning viewer,the director has raised few questions of double standard of society, individual freedom and what is right or wrong.
So enjoy the potpourri .
